On October 28, 2026, Anthropic made three admin features generally available for Claude Enterprise: smart reports, in-app surveys, and pooled group budgets. Together they answer the question every manager paying for AI seats keeps asking: what are we actually getting for this money?
Coffee summary
- FACT: Smart reports read a sample of a team's transcripts, group the work into workstreams, and attach list-price spend to each.
- FACT: Each organization gets up to 10 smart reports per month at no charge; the feature is off until an Owner turns it on.
- FACT: In-app surveys ask employees what worked, what time Claude saved, and what would break without it.
- FACT: Pooled budgets add one shared monthly team pool on top of each person's own spend limit.
- OPINION: This is Anthropic selling ROI proof, not just models, and it is a smart move.
Smart reports: what your team really uses Claude for
An admin picks a team, a date range of up to the last 28 days, and which products to include: chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or the combined chat and Cowork experience. Claude then samples transcripts and writes up the findings. Reports usually take a few hours and can be downloaded as HTML.
Each report shows:
- Top uses, ranked by sessions and by spend
- Deliverables by type, such as analysis, documentation, drafts, and code
- Average cost per session for each output type
- Where the most expensive sessions cluster
- Pain points, such as connectors never set up, output that missed the ask, sign-in gating, tool failures, and rework loops
Anthropic says the reports are for planning adoption, not for judging individual employees or making employment decisions. Inefficient sessions appear only as an aggregate count and cost.
In-app surveys
Admins can push a short survey card into chat, Cowork, or Claude Code. The four default questions ask about the most valuable recent win, time saved, one habit a teammate should copy, and what would break first if access disappeared. Questions can be edited and targeted to specific groups, and responses export to a spreadsheet.
Pooled budgets: fewer people blocked mid-month
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| Each person has only a personal monthly cap | Team shares a pool, plus personal caps stay as guardrails |
| Heavy users hit limits early while others leave budget unused | Spend flows to whoever needs it, within the pool |
| Asking for more meant going outside the app | A "Request more" button routes the request to admins |
Every request counts against both the person's limit and the pool; whichever runs out first stops the user.
Why now
CLAIM (via TechCrunch): Anthropic told investors it recorded an operating profit in the second quarter and 900% net revenue retention. Enterprise customers want proof that growing AI bills pay off, and these tools are built to show that.
Limitations
- Enterprise plans only; availability varies for HIPAA setups and customer-managed encryption keys.
- Reports rely on a sample of transcripts, so treat them as a trend picture, not an audit.
- Employees may reasonably ask how transcript sampling is governed; admins should explain it up front.
AIImpish Take
AI tools are moving from "cool demo" to "line item in the budget." Smart reports and pooled budgets give admins the evidence and controls to defend that line item. If you run a team on Claude Enterprise, generate one report this month and share the pain-points section with your team.
